Chapter Four
Shades of Violet
"Here are your Pokemon. They were treated for a few scrapes, but nothing too extreme. Thank you for bringing them to the Pokemon Center. We hope to see again." The nurse handed over two Pokeballs to Zak and Celeste, smiling as she bid them farewell. "Thank you for taking care of them. See you around." "Yeah, thanks. We really appreciate it." The two trainers waved to the pink and white clad lady as they walked through the front doors of the building.
Back in their hotel room, the duo sat at a table, discussing the events that had occurred that day. "So, did they say anything after you battled them?" Zak took a sip of his drink and leaned back in his chair so it was balancing on it's back legs. Celeste shook her head and stared down at her drink sitting on the table. "Not really. returned my PokeGear, saying something along the lines of 'we shall meet again' before running away. I honestly don't think we were random targets. I have this nagging feeling that we're stumbling into something bad," the girl sighed before lifting her gaze to look at Zak. "Also, you're going to fall if you keep rocking in your chair like that."
Zak smirked and set his glass back on the table and put his hands behind his head. "Well, I didn't get much of a different response than you." This, of course, was a lie. He had been told a few things, but he didn't want to worry Celeste. He sighed and closed his eyes, recalling exactly what was told to him.
"Okay, since you won, I'll let you in on a bit of information. You and your friend are about to get involved in the biggest disaster this region has seen. There's nothing you can do to avoid it, and there's nothing you can do to stop yourselves from getting involved. You two are a part of this, and your involvement is going to help us complete our mission. You have five months to train up and get ready if you want any chance to save this region. You don't get a day more, and it won't happen a day less. As for a time, well, you'll know when it'll happen. Just be prepared."
"Zak? Zaaaak?" Celeste growls and stands up, slamming her hands on the table. "ZAK!" The day-dreaming trainer snaps out of it, his chair flipping backwards and spilling his onto the floor. "Oww, what was that for?!" Zak sits up, glaring at Cele as she snickers. "I told you that would happen. Anyway, why'd you zone out like that all of a sudden?" Zak sighs and shakes his head, slowly standing up. "Am I not allowed to day-dream? I mean, it's been a long day and I'm tired." He walks towards a door on the other side of the room and opens it, slipping into the doorway. "I'm going to bed. We'll talk some more in the morning. Good night!" He quickly shuts the door, not allowing Cele to reply. "Yeah...good night."
The next day, the two new trainers are wandering the streets of Violet City. "So, I heard there was this building around here called Sprout Tower. It sounds like it could be a cool place to train." "You mean the building we're approaching? A bit of a short notice, but training would be good. We could get ready to challenge the gym here." Zak nods and quickly darts off, heading towards the doors of the tower. "Let's go!"
"Halt." A strong, yet feminine voice yells out to the two. "You two cannot just run in this building. The monks are praying at this time. If you wish to enter, you would have to be quiet and not disturb them." The two stop and turn to face the lady who delayed them. She was dressed in a light pink, floral pattern kimono. "Do you understand?" Her wooden sandals clacked against the cement road as she approached them. "Yes, we understand. We'll be very, very quiet." "Good. You may enter, but if you disturb them, be prepared to suffer the consequences." The lady turns and walks away, leaving the two confused but not slowing them from entering the doors.
The building echoed with the screech of a swaying support beam and the chants of the monks. Near the front door was a series of plaques that described the beginning of the story regarding the four protectors of Johto.
"The Princess of the Forest: Celebi.
The Prince of Flames: Entei.
The Demon of Lightning; Raikou.
The Spirit of Water; Suicune."
"Many, many years ago,
Created by the mighty Ho-oh,
These four were put to work and defended
The many weak and untended."
"The four never complained of the labor,
Not once even asking for a favor.
They were there to help all who needed,
Little by little, Entei felt it wasn't heeded.
"They worked from sun rise to sun fall
Making sure it was safe for all.
Entei had eventually decided
That he should be repaid for all he provided."
The rest of the plaques were worn out, leaving the rest of the story incomplete. "Huh, interesting. I wonder how the rest of this goes. Oh well, it's not important, right Cele?" Zak turned his attention from the plaques to Cele, only to notice she was already working her way upstairs. "Sigh, always impatient..." He slowly makes his way across the room to the stairs, making sure not to interrupt the chanting monks.
Up the stairs was an empty room. Nothing in it except for the two trainers and the swaying support beam. "This place is creepy..." "Perfect for a battle, isn't it?" The voice echoed through the room, originating from across the room near the other staircase. Kyle stood there, leaning against the railing, a smirk on his face. "If you want to get up these stairs, you'll have to battle me."

Chapter 4
Saffron's Seer
Rayne stood atop a Lapras, her face mask a deep blue, her clothing a charcoal gray and blue. She was leaving a waterfall, and she didn't turn back, although the people calling her name was completely audible in the background. Everything blurred, and then shifted. Instead of Rayne, there was Celeste, and instead of Lapras, there was a Dragonair. She was atop the Pokemon, swimming under the sea, toward a cavern. Anger was in her eyes, mostly toward herself than anyone else.. everything blurred once more... Scott opened his eyes, and the first thing he saw was his beautiful Gardevoir, her eyes filled with concern, having seen all he had seen. She asked psychically if he was alright. He didn't answer, but looked past her to the Pokemon Gym Doors. "They're coming."
Adrian
"Saffron City! Finally!!" Sean yelled, running past the city limits sign. Celeste rolled her eyes while Ariel and Nonan laughed at Sean. Celeste decided to be nice and not comment on her suspicions just yet. She'd wait and see awhile first, just to be sure. "Alright, well I think we should find the Pokemon Gy--" Ariel was cut off by barking. They all turned to see a dog type Pokemon running away from what looked like a huge wrestler with more arms than it should have. The dog ran right into Nonan's arms, shuddering, obviously afraid of its predator. The other Pokemon kept coming. No one had real time to react, but a huge green dragon Pokemon got in the way and took the multi-armed Pokemon's impact. "Good job Flygon, now get it out of here." The Dragon named Flygon span and smack the multi-armed Pokemon was thrown back, very far away into the distance, and it did not get back up. Flygon then turned toward where her master was, his back to the group. The dog Pokemon was still in Nonan's arms.
The trainer of Flygon returned her, and then turned to face them, and Celeste froze. She couldn't believe this was happening to her. "Hey, if you're gonna catch that Growlithe, better do it now while it's scared and eager to trust someone," the trainer said, crossing his arms and tilting his head slightly. Nonan didn't waste time. He took out a Pokeball and caught Growlithe quickly. The Dog stayed in the ball, eager for safety. Now they all turned on the trainer. "Who are you?" Sean spoke, his voice cold. Celeste noted that but said nothing. "The name's Adrian," the trainer bowed slightly, making Nonan whisper a joke to Ariel that Celeste couldn't hear. "I'm.. obviously a trainer. And you four are?" "I'm Sean, the one who caught Growlithe is Nonan, the one next to him is Ariel, and this one's --" "Celeste," she spoke without thinking. Adrian's eyes settled on her, and a recognition seemed to dawn on him. She shifted her head so that her hair obscured her features some, and crossed her arms. Her voice was cold when she spoke. "What kind of trainer with something as powerful as a Flygon sticks around here? Shouldn't you be facing the Elite Four, or even facing the Frontier Brains?"
Saffron's Gym
"I don't know if we can trust this guy, Celeste," Sean whispered under his breath to Celeste as they walked to the gym, Adrian walking ahead with Nonan and Ariel, joking around. "And I don't think I can trust you, Sean," Celeste answered her eyes forward, her face revealing nothing. Sean stayed quiet but Celeste continued, " However that's a talk for another day. I know we can't trust Adrian but I want to know what he's doing here and why he isn't elsewhere." "He's very strong." "I know he is. I've seen it." "...But we just met him today." Celeste didn't reply.
"Well, here's the gym," Ariel stated the obvious. Adrian opened the door and held it open for them to enter. They entered one by one, Celeste pausing to look Adrian in the eyes. He held her gaze, his face still holding that playful look that it had with Nonan and Ariel. "After you," he said calmly. She didn't budge. His face changed from playful to serious, and Celeste suddenly looked forward and began walking. "Wait.." Adrian said, grabbing hold of her wrist. She pulled away and whipped around to face him, her hand automatically reaching for a Pokeball and sending out Eevee. Adrian stared at Eevee and then back at Celeste, interest all over his face. "Don't touch me again," Celeste said dangerously calm. "Hey what's the hold up?" Ariel's voice came from a hallway past the lobby of the gym. Celeste turned away and motioned for Eevee to follow, then heading for Ariel's voice. Adrian smiled and followed.
They entered the arena of the gym, and in the arena was nothing but a trainer with his arms crossed. On his face was a look that stated that he had been expecting them. "Welcome, Celeste, Sean, Nonan, Ariel, Adrian and Eevee." He nodded his head slightly in greeting. "My name's Scott, Sabrina's little sister. I'm in charge of the gym while she's off with her boyfriend Lucian in the Sinnoh region. I understand that you're here for a clearing on a prophecy." It wasn't a question but Nonan being Nonan answered anyway. "No shit sherlock! Tell us what you know about the Chosen Fools or whatever." "Four," Ariel corrected automatically. "Yeah four!" Nonan amended. "I'm afraid I cannot do that," Scott said, a smile playing his lips. "Why the fuck not?" Nonan growled, his eyes narrowing on him, "The sooner we get this bullshit outta the way, the sooner I can go back to my gym battles." "Well you're in luck. I will give you your answer if one of you can defeat me in battle. I will not speak unless someone defeats me. And as well as an answer, I'll give you the gym badge for this gym. However, you can only ever battle me once. Should you lose, you won't ever be able to challenge me again -- not any of you. And you'll never get the prophecy you seek, nor the gym badge." "You're on!" Nonan sent out his new Growlithe and it howled at Scott, "I've got this one."
Scott laughed and shook his head, "No, no. You see.. I get to choose my opponent. Not you." Ariel crossed her arms and glared, "That's not fair. If you're a psychic you'll obviously choose the one you can beat." Scott smiled knowingly, "I know." The group -- minus Adrian -- grumbled at Scott and decided to pull a few feet away from both the gym leader and Adrian to talk over their options. "We either battle and win, or battle and lose," Sean said a fire in his eyes, "I say we battle." "He's a psychic. He'll read the thoughts of the person battling or even predict the battle before choosing and he'll pick the one he can beat," Ariel countered. Nonan rolled his eyes, "You guys are just making excuses not to battle!" "We aren't. We're just thinking it over as carefully as possible," Ariel responded calmly. Celeste shook her head, "No. Scott may be a Psychic but he can't predict who'll win. His visions don't work that way. They come to him at random, not by choice. He can communicate telepathically with his Pokemon but nothing more. What he says is just to intimidate his opponets and to get them so nervous before the fight that they either give up or just fail." "You sure know alot about him, Celeste," Sean said solemnly. Celeste shrugged and looked away from Sean toward Adrian. "Let's just say I've actually made use of my time away from home." "That still leaves out who's gonna battle him," Ariel said but Nonan answered rather quickly, "That little shit chooses, remember?" Silence hit the group. "I say we fucking do it," Nonan said, a wicked look in his eyes. Ariel nodded in agreement and Sean did as well. "Let's go then," Celeste said, and they walked back, Nonan leading. "We accept, dipshit! So who ya gonna battle?" Nonan asked.
Scott looked at Nonan for a long while, and then spoke, "Not you." His gaze then went to Ariel, and then to Sean, and finally Celeste. His eyes widened and he pointed at her. "You." "Why does that not surprise me.." she muttered under her breath. Eevee hit her head against the ground beside Celeste. Utter bullpoopie.. Right? But no worries.. we did spy on him for a month without him detecting us, so we'll be okay.. "What are the rules?" Celeste asked automatically walking to a side of the arena. "It'll have to be a single battle only. I'm afraid I'll push you too hard too fast if we try a double battle," Scott tossed out his Pokeball, and his beautiful Gardevoir appeared before him. "Adrian, why don't you referee this battle?" asked Scott politely.
Adrian nodded once. "It'd be my pleasure to watch this battle.." He stood at his position and waited for Celeste to send out her Pokemon. Celeste glanced down at her Eevee and nodded. Eevee took the place before her trainer, and growled lowly at the Gardevoir. Adrian nodded and then addressed the room. "This will be a one on one match. The match will continue until one of the Pokemon can no longer continue to battle, or until a trainer gives up. Death is no option. Referee may stop the battle if they see there is no point in continuing. The battle will commence now!" Gardevoir attacked on its own, without a command, charging up what seemed to be a big ball of energy between its hands. What the fuck?! It's owner didn't even command it to do anything! It can't do that. "Dodge!" Eevee tried to dodge, but Gardevoir had started the attack with perfect timing so that Eevee couldn't dodge it. "Mother fucking fuck face!" Celeste shut her eyes and spoke frantically to her Eevee mentally. Oh God I'm sorry! Are you okay? Yeah..watch the language. "Watch the language," Adrian said the same time as Eevee, smirking. How the fuc-- Oh shit dodge it! Celeste had gotten distracted by Eevee and didn't notice the Thunder attack that Gardevoir had aimed at Eevee. Eevee -- having had a good enough warning -- dodged it, but barely. Her trainer hasn't even spoken! Eevee, what did we learn when we were watching him all that time ago? He never spoke. And did you ever catch on why? Eevee stayed silent for a moment and automatically dodged Gardevoir's following Energy Ball. They're both Psychics.. Finally. Meaning us talking like this isn't cheating. And it's faster. I'll explain later, for now, get as close as you can and get ready to use Bite. The only dark move I got.. perfect. We got this, now look away! It's going to try and use Hypnosis on you. Sure enough, Gardevoir's eyes had taken on a hypnotic look. For some reason the silent battle enraged Celeste and caused her to yell out to Scott. "Stop being a fucking pussy and speak your damn attacks instead of using telepathy!" Scott laughed at her, "I'm a psychic gym leader. What did you expect? Gardevoir, Shock wave." Dig now! Eevee dug rapidly, but not fast enough. The wave of electricity hit Eevee hard, and she fell back at Celeste's feet. I really hate this guy.. This gives me an idea.. keep digging holes. Everywhere. Connect them to each other like a maze. And create one main spot where you can face all the tunnel entrances. Go! Eevee didn't question and dove back into the earlier hole. Scott's Pokemon didn't know exactly what to do since it was nowhere to be found, or Scott was just bidding his time. It's too much work for just me! Use Double Team then. Eevee didn't reply and Celeste hoped that meant that she was doing it. After awhile, Scott seemed to get irritated. "What did you give up?! Get your damn Eevee out!" Celeste smiled, "If you say so.." Done! Celeste commanded the rest of the plan to Eevee mentally, and soon all the Double Teamed Eevee dashed out of those holes that circled Gardevoir. Scott's Psychic Pokemon was confused at whom to attack and that hesitation was exactly what Eevee needed. It dug right beneath Gardevoir, causing the ground under its feet to crumble and fall. Gardevoir fell, and Eevee bit hard. Use Shadow Ball now! DO NOT LET GO! A dark sphere emerged from Eevee's mouth, hitting Gardevoir hard and throwing it forward, and Eevee along with it, not letting go. Quick let go and back into the holes! All the Eevee -- fakes and real -- retreated into the tunnels. Gardevoir slowly got up, and closed her eyes momentarily, before opening them. Celeste assessed the situation. It hadn't healed, so it wasn't recover..what could it have.. We end this now. How? Using that move that'll show how close we are. ......Is that wise? No. But it's what we got. They'll know it's you. Adrian probably already knows. Sean will investigate further and we don't slip up afterward. What will you do if Adrian tries to use you? Celeste looked at Adrian at this point and shook her head. His eyes showed bewilderment, and he tiled his head slightly, like he always would when he confused her. "He won't," she said softly and then focused back on the battle. "Use Return, now!" *Eevee darted out, and hit Gardevoir full force, using the move Return which -- depending on how much the Pokemon was happy with its trainer -- knocked Gardevoir to the ground.* She did not get up.
Adrian waited a full 10 seconds before calling the match. "The winner is Eevee and her trainer, R-- Celeste! They've won the Marsh Badge!"Celeste's eyes darted to Adrian and then to her Eevee who ran at her, happy to have won the match. Scott returned his Gardevoir and walked to Celeste, reaching into his pocket and pulling out the Gym badge at the same time. He placed it in the palm of her hand, and his fingers lightly pressed against her palm, when it happened. He stilled, and she stilled as well. His eyes went blank, and soon Celeste's did too. Sean, Ariel and Nonan darted forward, and Eevee frantically pawed at her trainer, trying to speak to her telepathically, but getting no response. Soon, both Scott and Celeste fell over, unconscious. "Adrian, call the ambu--" Sean stopped talking when he turned to see Adrian was gone. Growling lowly, Sean pulled out his cell phone and called someone, walking a few feet away leaving Ariel and Nonan to tend to the two passed out on the floor. The person on the other line picked up. "Josh here." "Hello Josh, tell Nano to prepare the Rocket Game Corner. And send over a helicopter that can pick us up at the roof of Saffron City's Gym." "But..Sean--" "Yeah, I know. Sooner that I expected as well. Hurry Josh. Things got complicated." He paused and turned to look back at Celeste lying on the ground. "They're after her."
*The move Return is a hard one to write out. So I did the best I could. If you've played the games you know that it hits hard and strong if the Pokemon loves you enough, and Eevee does love my character alot, and that will be revealed later on why, for now..deal with my horrid writing.*

Chapter Three
Minor Delays
"You forgot to get directions to Violet City?!" Zak jumped backwards to avoid getting hit as Celeste raised her fist. "Uh, yeah. But I don't recall YOU asking for it either. If I remember correctly, you wanted to battle." Celeste growled and stepped towards Zak. "Don't you pin this on me! You're supposed to be the responsible one!!"
Zak sighed and held up his arm, revealing the gold and red PokeGear he'd had since they left their hometown. "Simple solution. I'll call him and have him send the directions to our map cards, okay?" Celeste blinked, looked from Zak's wrist to her own, and sighed, a look of confusion and sadness on her face. "I can't believe I forgot about that...You're supposed to be the airhead, not me." Zak walked away from Celeste, a smirk on his face. "Haha, okay. I'm calling now. Please be quiet while I do so."
The girl glared at the back of Zak's head, intent on burning a hole through it. After noticing that nothing was happening, she sighed again and sat down on a bench. The call rang through and after what seemed like an eternity of waiting, Zak was directed to voicemail. "Hello. You have reached Professor Brendan's answering machine. I am currently out of the laboratory on work related business or I'm out doing something fun and non-work related. Please leave a message and I will TRY to get back to you. No promises." The recording ended with a beep and Zak sighed, shaking his head. "Hey, Brendan. Sorry to bother you, but when you get this message, could you please send the directions to Violet City to my PokeGear's Map App? It would be really helpful. Thanks. Talk to ya later." With that, Zak disconnected the call and hung his head in shame.
"So, what should we do while we wait? I don't really want to wander off and end up further away from our destination, but staying here is boring." Zak sat down next to Celeste and leaned against her. "There's really nothing we can do for now except wait it out. Though, we could always wander through this city and see what we can find to entertain us..." Celeste sighed and looked around. Sure, they were in a city, but it looked more like a major business area. Finding something interesting here would be a pain.
The two trainers stood up and stretched. "How about we split up and search? If we find anything, we can just call on our PokeGears." Celeste glanced back at Zak and tilted her head. "Two good ideas in less than an hour. I'm proud of you. Okay, let's go. Good luck." Without letting Zak reply or complain about what she had said, she took off. "Yeah...Okay." Zak put his hands in his pockets and started to slowly wander through the empty streets.
From on top of a roof, two trainers watched over the city with binoculars. It appeared they were watching Zak and Celeste. "They finally separated. Guess we should do the same." "Yeah. This is so exciting! I'll go after the girl. See you later~" And just like Celeste had done to Zak, the second person jumped from the roof before the first could reply.
An hour later, Zak receives a call from Cele. "Hey, guess what?" "You found something?" "Yep. An arcade. I'm sitting outside of it." "Lucky. I ended up in the corporate part of this city. Nothing but insurance offices and a few coffee shops." "Haha, sucks for you. I'll send the location to your PokeGear. See you in a few--Hey! Who are you? Go awa--..."
Zak stared at his PokeGear, unsure of what just happened. "Cele...Are you still there? Helloooo?" A few seconds after calling out to Cele, an unknown voice responds. "Oh hush up, will you? Your girlfriend's a little preoccupied." "Who are you and what have you done to Cele? Oh, and she's not my girlfriend!" "That's none of your business, kid. Just worry about your own neck. Bye." The call was disconnected, leaving Zak confused and angered about the current situation.
He took off through the streets of the city, determined to find Celeste. He made it about four blocks before he was tackled by a small Pokemon. Zak collided with the ground in a glorious fall that could only be compared with the outcome of a bird smacking into a window. "Ugh, what the heck just hit me...?" He sat up and looked around, spotting a Sentret, the obvious projectile that had attacked him. "Good little Sentret." A staticy voice called out to the Pokemon who responded with a cry, perching itself up on it's tail.
Zak looked around, attempting to find the source of the voice. After a few moments, it revealed itself as a cloaked figure as they walked out of an alley way. It was impossible to tell if the person was male or female, the cloak covered up all features, and their voice was being filtered through a device to change it.
"What do you want?" Zak stood up, his hand reaching towards his belt, ready to grab his Cyndaquil's PokeBall. "What makes you think I want anything from you?" The person, despite having a digital voice, sounded quite cocky, letting out a slight chuckle. "The fact that you just had your Pokemon attack me doesn't make me think otherwise." Zak shot a glare at the figure, waiting to make his next move. "Oh, aren't you a clever one. If you must know, I'm here for a battle. Right now my partner should be dealing with your friend, so you shouldn't feel guilty about leaving her out of the fun."
"So that's who was on the other end of Cele's PokeGear? Why are you targeting us?" "We have our reasons, not that you'll be finding out any time soon. So come on, let out your Pokemon so we can get on with this. Unless you'd rather sit here and not know what's happening to your friend." Zak sighed quietly, he wasn't really wanting to battle, but he appeared to have no choice. He pulled his PokeBall off his belt and threw it into the air. "Let's go, Akai."

Chapter Two
Moving On
Early morning in the village. Only the sound of wind blowing can be heard and the occasional chirping of a flock of Pidgeys. At least that's what's heard from outside Zak's room. In his room, the cry of an alarm clock breaks the silence, waking Zak from his slumber. "For the love of...Stupid alarm." The annoying beeping is quickly put to a stop as Zak grabs the clock and throws it across the room, causing it to hit the wall and fall to the floor after it's short flight. A mix between a yawn and a groan. is heard, followed by the sounds of sheets rustling.
"At least I'm leaving today. No need to worry about a busted alarm." Zak stood up and walked towards his window. He pull the blinds open and looks outside. "...Still dark." He shook his head and headed for his door, opening it up and walking out after grabbing a towel off his dresser. He stepped into the bathroom and closed the door, locking it behind him. From that moment on, all that was heard in the house was a shower running.
Thirty minutes later, the sound of rushing water was silenced followed by the sound of a hairdryer starting up. Moments later the hairdryer was shut off and Zak walked out of the bathroom, panting from the heat and steam left in the room. "Too...hot." That was one thing he didn't like. Heat of any kind. Despite finding Fire-Type Pokemon intriguing, he preferred the nice feeling of cool, crisp air. His room was always the coldest in his house, which was just the way he liked it.
He headed back into his room, changing into his new clothes he bought specifically for the trip. He sighed and stood in front of a mirror, combing his hair so it didn't look like a mess before making his bed.
After making sure everything was tidy in his room, he headed downstairs to the kitchen where his backpack was sitting, ready to be packed with whatever materials, food, and other things he would need. When he finished packing, he carried his bag to the living room and dropped it on the couch so he could make breakfast.
After Zak finished his breakfast, he put his shoes on, tied them tightly, and picked up his backpack, swinging it onto his back. He looked around the house, making sure he didn't forget anything. Once he made one final sweep through all the rooms, he sighed softly. "So, this is it. Hopefully I'll be back. No. I will be back."
He stepped out the door and into the cool outside air. The sun was just rising, but what light there was was being captured in the dew on the grass. "I'm gonna miss waking up to this scenery everyday." Zak stretched and looked at his PokeGear. Noticing the time, his jaw dropped. He was late meeting Cele at the entrance to Goldenrod City. Without wasting another second, he took off in a sprint, hoping she wouldn't be there before him.
Five minutes and a half-mile jog later, Zak finally arrived at the gate. Of course, Cele was sitting on a rock, waiting for him. "Oh, now you show up, Mister We-Need-To-Leave-Early." A glare was shot towards Zak. "Anyway, let's go. I'll deal with you later. We still have places to be, so let's go!" She hopped off the rock and ran behind Zak. Placing both hands on his shoulders, she began to walk forward, thus pushing him. Zak stumbled a bit before regaining balance and shaking his head. "Okay, okay. I know. We still have a while."
Two hours into the trip, Zak lets out a groan. "Ugh...Are we there yet?" Cele looked at her PokeGear's map and shook her head. "No. We still have a bit longer to go. Atleast another thirty minutes." The tone in her voice made it evident that she was quite annoyed with Zak's whining.
Thirty minutes had passed and Zak decided to break the silence. "Are we th--" "--YES! For the love of Arceus, we're there! Would you just shut up?!" Celeste spun around, throwing a punch at Zak. With what little coordination he had left, he managed to hop back and dodge, but this resulted in him falling backwards and landing on his back. He sighed and rolled over on all fours and stood up. "I'm already tired from the walk. Could you not punch me?" Celeste shook her head and sent a death-glare in his direction.
He looked around and blinked, noticing a large sign that said: 'New Bark Town Pokemon Laboratory. The Starting Line For All Trainers.' Upon reading that outloud twice, his eyes widened and he got a smirk on his face. "We--we're here! We're finally here!" With that, he took off running, forgetting how exhausted he was. "Hey! Wait for me, dang it!"
Zak stopped infront of the lab's front door and knocked repeatedly, the sound echoing through the little town. The door slowly opened, a pair of green eyes staring through the crack between the door and the frame. "I take it you're Professor Brendan?"
The door swung the rest of the way open. Standing in the opening was a tall man dressed in green camouflage and a white lab coat. "Ah, you must be Zak. About time you got here. Um...Where's Celeste? Didn't you say she would be accompanying you?" Zak blinked and looked around before seeing Celeste slowly catching up. "Here she comes. She's a little...slow today." By the time he had finished saying that, Celeste was behind him, clearly not amused by the comment. She quickly smacked the top of Zak's head and growled. "Thanks for waiting up for me, Zak."
She turns away from Zak to address the other man. "Oh. You must be the Professor. Nice to meet you." Brendan nods and backs out of the opening, allowing room for the two to enter. "Please, come in. The other trainer just arrived before you, so you guys aren't too late." Zak and Celeste glanced at each other before stepping into the building and following Brendan to the back room, where another trainer was waiting.
The trainer in the back had an icy look in his eyes. "So these two were the other trainers. I knew I was right, but I'm glad it was confirmed. They don't look like they'll be any trouble to me." The trainer was muttering to himself, quickly becoming quiet when the Professor, Zak, and Celeste got within earshot.
"Well, since all three of you are here, I don't have to say this more than once. First, I'll introduce you all. Zak, Celeste. This is Kyle, and vice versa. Now that you all know each other, let's get on with this, as I do have work to do." He moves to stand next to a table littered with objects. "You each are here to get your first Pokemon, A-K-A, your Starter." Brendan pointed to said table where three Pokeballs and three devices were sitting. Each Pokeball had a different color than normal Pokeballs, and the devices next to them had matching colors.
"The device sitting next to the PokeBalls is called a PokeDex." He turns and grabs one of them, holding it to show the soon-to-be Trainers. "It's used to record data on Pokemon species you've seen or acquired. They also store lots of other data, like attacks, item information, and other stuff." He sets the PokeDex back down on the table and turns to face away from it. "You'll each get a set of PokeBalls and Potions to start your journey. Now that that's out of the way, please, pick your Starter Pokemon."
Kyle was the first to step forward, reaching for the Purple Pokeball. "I'll pick Totodile. Not my favorite, but the PokeBall and PokeDex are Purple, so I'm set."
Next was Celeste. She reached for the Blue Pokeball and PokeDex. "Well, since you took the Water Starter, I'll take Chikorita. It's cute enough to make up for the fact that it's a Grass-Type."
Finally, Zak stepped forward, a smirk on his face. He grabbed the last Pokeball and PokeDex, both a golden color. "Glad neither of you picked Cyndaquil. I would have had to kill whoever did."
"Well, since you each have your Pokemon, here are your matching PokeBalls and the Potions I promised." Brendan quickly hands each trainer their corresponding PokeBalls and a few Potions. After each trainer had their set of items, the Professor points to the door as if in a rush to get the kids out of his lab. "Now, get out. I have work to do." With that, the three new trainers walked out of the lab, their eyes fixated on the Pokeball with their first Pokemon in it.
"Well, I'm leaving. No use sticking around with you noobs. Don't bother chasing me down. I don't need you two slowing me down." Kyle looked up at Zak and Celeste with the same icy glare as before and darted off, not looking back.
"Well that was...interesting." Zak shook his head and turned to Cele. "It certainly was." She nods, turning to face Zak and snaps her fingers. "Hey, I have an idea. Why don't we have a battle? It'd be good practice." Zak shrugs and sighs quietly. "Sure. Nothing to lose, right?" The two separate, walking until they were about twenty feet apart. They held out their PokeBalls and tossed them into the air. With a flash, two Pokemon stood before their new masters.
"Cyndaquil, use Tackle!" The Fire Pokemon made a dash towards the green, Grass-Type. "Dodge it and use Tackle as well!" Chikorita jumped out of the way and lunged at the blue and cream colored Pokemon. The two trainers kept commanding their Pokemon, not giving up until one was victorious.
Meanwhile in the laboratory the sound of static over a communication device is heard faintly before clearing up. "Are you still there? What happened?" "Yes, I'm still here. There was a bit of interference, but it's gone now. You were saying?" "I was asking if you had received contact from the subjects." "Oh, yes. I've sent them out." "Excellent." "I hope they know what they're getting into." "They'll find out soon enough, just don't let it be from you. Got it?" "Yes sir." "Are you sure you understand? I don't want you to mess up another plan" "Yes, I understand. Everything shall go according to plan." "You better hope it does. I have a meeting with someone in a few minutes, so I'm ending this conversation now." "Okay. Talk to you later." The sound of a call being disconnected and a quiet chuckle are the only things heard from inside the dim-lit building. "Heh, this is going to be interesting."

Pokemon: Lost Legends -- Chapter 3
Chapter 3
The Moon That Shines Over Cerulean City
"Hey guys look! Shrooms!" Nonan cackled as they passed by a few Paras.
Ariel and Celeste rolled their eyes. They were someone in Mt. Moon, no doubt lost. They had just battled a fair amount of trainers that had challenged them, and their Pokemon were definitely getting stronger by the second. Ariel pulled out a map to be sure they were heading in the right direction. "Kay so.. Cerulean City should be at the foot of this Mountain.. There's a Gym there." She glanced at Nonan who wasn't listening. His headphones were in his ears and he was swaying to the beat of the music as he walked. Ariel glanced at Celeste instead. "You gonna take this challenge?" "I suppose so. Cerulean City has a Water Gym Leader doesn't it?" Celeste asked, her eyes on her Eevee who was running in front of them, pawing at the Paras as they passed. "Um.. yeah. Water Gym Leader's name is Misty. She's pretty famous for having three hot older sister." Ariel and Celeste both glanced at Nonan, waiting for him to make a comment or joke. He just kept on jamming.
There was a flash of light up head, and a shout, "Charmeleon, Flamethrower!" Celeste and Ariel ran toward the commotion. Leaving Nonan to catch up -- if he ever even noticed. They came upon a trainer and his Pokemon -- obviously Charmeleon -- training.
"Oh my God it's a pyro!" Nonan exclaimed from behind the girls, drawing the trainer's attention. "Oh, hello there!" The trainer smiled. "Uh, heya." Celeste said wearily. "Hello." "Wazzup?" "Are you guys lost in here..?" the mystery trainer asked, tilting his head slightly. The trio glanced at each other. "Not.... particularly," Ariel said slowly, "Are you?" The trainer looked embarrassed as he confessed that he was somewhat at a lost. "Do you think I could..maybe go with you guys?" "Only if I can keep that Charmeleon," Nonan said, his eyes on the firey Pokemon. "No way. He's my best buddy. I ain't giving him up for anything in the world." Ariel rolled her eyes. "Ignore Nonan. Yeah you can come along with us.. if that's fine with Celeste and Nonan." "I'm cool with it." "Yeah.. but what's your name?" Celeste asked carefully. "Sean's the name," he nodded and returned his Charmeleon. Thanks a bunch for helping me out. I've been here..for quite awhile." "Don't mention it.." Celeste murmured, and pushed past the new trainer, Ariel following. "How do you know you can trust him?" Ariel whispered while Nonan and Sean began to talk about the fire Pokemon. "I don't," Celeste replied calmly, as they entered a cavern in the cave that had a very high ceiling where a few Zubat hung, asleep.
"So what if he turns out to be a jerk, or a rapist or something?" "Then we have a glass tube subject don't we?" Ariel chuckled and Celeste smirked. Nonan and Sean suddenly burst out laughing at a joke one of them told, and woke the sleeping Zubat. The Zubat screeched and began to swoop down together at the four of them. "Mother fuck, Nonan!" Celeste exclaimed reaching for her Pokeball and sending out Dratini, while Ariel sent out Pidgey. At the same time there was a scream that came from neither of the original four. "There's someone else in here with us!" Sean stated the obvious as his Charmeleon came out beside him. "Alright, Pidgey go find that someone, lead me and Sean to him. Celeste you and Nonan cover us?" Ariel covered her face as she spoke, the Zubat now beginning to realize where exactly everyone was, Nonan's Squirtle finally joining the rest of the Pokemon. "Gotcha. Nonan stick close to me, and let's make our own small whirlpool to clear the room," Celeste instructed as Sean and Ariel ran off. "Pfft! You don't own me!" Nonan grinned at Squirtle. "Use Water Gun at as many as you can!" Squirtle saluted it's trainer and began to set water jets at the Zubat who dodged easily. "What?!" Nonan exclaimed as one Zubat swooped low to try and attack Squirtle, who dodged easily. "Told you.." muttered Celeste. "Dratini, Twister, as big as you can and keep me and Nonan in the center of it." Dratini began doing as it was told, slithering around them in an unnatural speed, hitting the Zubat around them, but also isolating those who were in the center with them. "Keep it going Dratini! Nonan, now have Squirtle hit them with water gun." "Yeah yeah.. Squirtle let's do it!" Squirtle jumped in the air and used water gun on the Zubat that was left inside the circle, knocking them out through the walls of the twister. "Alright.. now what smartass? Wait for Dratini to collapse with exhaustion?" Nonan asked as they soon realized that they were safe, but Ariel was still with the others. "Now we wait. Have faith in Ariel why don't you?" "It's not her I'm worried about," Nonan retorted, "I mean.. we can't trust this new tra--" "Poliwag use water gun!" *A hole in the twister appeared as a jet of water broke through it, and soon after, Ariel and Sean were pushed through it, soaking wet, and soon a trainer holding the Pokemon using the water gun joined them in the center of the twister. The hole closed itself up soon after.* The Trainer holding the Pokemon Poliwag, straightened and thanked Ariel and Sean for helping her.
She then turned to Nonan and Celeste. "Heya my name's--" "No time. We needa get out of here before my Dratini gets too tired." The Trainer nodded and pointed east. "We can go that way and end up in Pewter City, or we can go to the west and get to Cerulean City. I'm headed to Cerulean, what about you guys?" "Cerulean," they all said at the same time and Celeste took a deep breath. "Okay, Dratini can't hold this for long. We need something to lead us to the end of this cavern." The new trainer returned her Poliwag and bit her lower lip. "Well, I'm no help there." "Something tells me you're no help anywhere.." Nonan muttered and Celeste snickered. "Sean do you have any flying types?" Ariel asked, her hands going for her Pidgey's Pokeball, ready to call it back out if needed. Sean had no time to reply, because at that moment a loud familar caw sounded throughout the cavern, and the Zubat all seemed to have fled. "Dratini, stop the Twister!" Dratini slowed, and was breathing heavily. "Mmm.. return. Rest easy.."Celeste murmured, returning her Pokemon to the ball, and sending Eevee out instead as she saw who they faced. "So.. it's you again."
The caw was from a Skarmory, and atop that Skarmory was the same trainer that Ariel, Nonan and Celeste faced earlier. He smiled, "Yeah. We got a battle to finish." The trainer was now in all black, with a big red R on his front shirt. His eyes fell on someone behind Celeste, and suddenly he turned serious. Another male trainer appeared beside the first trainer's Skarmory, a white Pokemon flying beside him. "We'll be needing you," he said solemnly, pointing at Sean. "Togetic.. go get him."
The white Pokemon flew traight toward Sean, and Eevee jumped at the Pokemon, biting its leg and dragging to down to the ground. There was a brief struggle before Eevee pinned Togetic down, one paw forcing its face to the ground. "You won't be getting Sean. Not without a serious fight." The 2nd trainer, also dressed in all black, but without the red R, growled lowly and nodded at Togetic, who suddenly threw Eevee off and flew back to its trainer. Eevee growled and entered a fighting stance. "What do you two want? Team Rocket isn't even around anymore.." the trainer who had the Poliwag stated, her eyes glaring at the two. "We already said what we wanted. We want ....Sean." The first trainer hesitated before saying the name, something that neither Celeste nor Ariel missed. "It's not worth it Nano.. we should go," the second one said. "They're obviously..attached. We'll catch him when they're not around."
"Oh hell no, me and you have some unfinished business. Send out that stupid ass duck and let me and Squirtle have at you again!" Nonan growled, Squirtle glaring along with its trainer. The trainer named Nano laughed and shook his head. "Some other time.." His eyes turned to look at Celeste, but Eevee jumped onto Nano, knocking him down off of Skarmory. "Now use Sand Attack and blind him!" Eevee kicked sand at Nano, Nonan's Squirtle used water gun on the Togetic, who had its guard down. "Josh! Get on Skarmory and go!" Instead, the second trainer Josh sent out another Pokemon. It was all green and extremely tiny.
"Return Skarmory, fast," Josh said and returned Togetic, picking up the tiny green Pokemon. Nano did as Josh said and kicked Eevee off of him. Celeste ran and caught Eevee before it hit the wall, and Nano placed his hand on the green Pokemon in Josh's arms. "Ralts, teleport," Josh said, and they disappeared. Celeste returned Eevee and turned on Sean. "Who the fuck are you?! Why the fuck is Team Rocket after you? What the fuck did you do?!" Celeste was in a rage, and had her fists raised, ready to punch Sean, when Nonan grabbed her from behind and held her back, pulling her away from Sean. Celeste was cursing up a storm, and no one knew why, but if they had known they wouldn't be able to blame her. Of course Nano looked so damn familiar to her. He was the Team Rocket Lieutenant that she had worked beside on so many missions before. Of course he didn't recognize her, she had always worn a face mask back then. "Celeste, take a fucking chill pill," Nonan said, holding her regardless of her struggles. "I wanna know who the fuck this bastard is!" Sean was so familiar to her, and she couldn't figure out exactly why.
"I think I know why they want me," Sean said, his eyes on the ground. Everyone at this point returned their Pokemon, and stared at Sean, arms crossed or with glaring eyes, except Nonan and Celeste, who were still in the same position as before. "I can possess Pokemon, and that's a strong power that they'd love to use and experiment with." There was silence, and even Celeste was still. She suddenly knew who he was, and she didn't like it. A voice came to her from her Pokeball then. So... he's still alive.. Shhh, Eevee, I'll fix this. I don't want to get tied into that bullcrap again. We both know it was meant to be. Why else would your siblings suddenly disappear? We both know this is so much more than a simple journey to fight the Pokemon League. Justine and Jr are more than likely fine with my Uncle Mario. Nothing to fear.. So why are you shaking? "Celeste, why are you shaking?" Nonan asked the same time Eevee did. Celeste shut her eyes and shook her head. "No reason.." She looked at Sean and sighed. "Okay, so you can possess Pokemon.. so you technically rape them?" Nonan laughed at that one, and accidentally released her. She breifly thought about attacking Sean, but knew there'd be no point. He wasn't a real threat yet. "I do not rape Pokemon!" Sean exclaimed, and they all began laughing now. "Whatever," Celeste smirked "Alright, uh.. what's your name?" She asked the trainer who had the Poliwag. "Right, I'm Asra." Celeste nodded. "Nice to meet you. Lead the way, will you?" Asra nodded and lead the rest of the way through.
Cerulean City Gym
"So you two are battling gyms, and Ariel you're just studying Pokemon?" Sean asked the next morning. Asra had lead them through Mt. Moon, and then had gone to her place, leaving the foursome (haha..foursome) to go to find a hotel to stay in. "That's pretty much the gist of it, how about you?" Ariel asked, packing up her backpack. "I'm trying to figure out why I have this power to possess." "I still don't believe you," Nonan said, eating an apple. "I mean, who the hell can posess Pokemon?" Sean rolled his eyes and smiled. "I'll show you sometime exactly what I can do." Celeste entered the room then, and took the apple from Nonan, bit off a piece and then handed the rest of the apple back. "I'm gonna go find the gym and challenge this one." Nonan stared at the apple where she had bitten and grumbled. "I'm going.. but I hope to God this Misty beats you."
They made their way over to the gym and entered the building somewhat silently, the only noise coming from Nonan, who had his headphones on full blast. The gym was a water gym, so naturally, in order to get to the battle arena, they had to pass through an aquarium filled with amazing water type Pokemon. That's where they saw a familiar face. "Asra?" Ariel said, taken aback. Asra turned and smiled. "Ohey, what's up?" "Uhh.. what are you doing here?" "I'm the temporary gym leader." Silence.
Then Nonan let out a very loud gale of laughter. "BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! THIS IS YOUR OPPONENT?! OH MY GOD!" Celeste elbowed him and then stepped forward. "Where's Misty?" "She's my cousin, and she's out visiting Ash in some new region called Unova." "In that case, I do indeed challenge you." Asra nodded. "You're on." They all made their way to the battle arena. The arena was way different from Brock's. It was a huge rectangualr aquarium, and on either side there was a staircase that led to the top of a flat platform with a railing around it, where the trainer could stand and instruct their Pokemon as the Pokemon battled it out in the aquarium. There were also floating platforms on the water, in case a trainer decides to use a Pokemon that cannot swim. Asra took the red side, and Celeste took the blue side. "Two on two sound fair?" "Perfectly fine, "Celeste answered. "I'll referee the match if you don't mind." Sean said. They both nodded. Nonan and Ariel sat in the stands. Asra sent out Poliwag as her first Pokemon, and Celeste decided to go with Dratini. Both Pokemon were elegant and perfect swimmers.
"This will be a 2 on 2 match. The match will continue until one or both Pokemon can no longer continue to battle, or until a trainer gives up.The opponent is allowed to switch Pokemon at any time, where as the Gym Leader cannot. Death is no option. Referee may stop the battle if they see there is no point in continuing. The battle will commence now!" Sean stated. "Poliwag use Hypnosis!" "Dratini, swim down quickly!" Poliwag attempted to put Dratini to sleep but Dratini avoided Poliwag by sinking deep into the pool rapidly. "Switch tactics and use doubleslap!" Poliwag got close fast, and used its tail to hit Dratini in the face twice. "Use Wrap to immobilize it!" Dratini's body wrapped around Poliwag and held it, and the both sank to the bottom of the aquarium. I can't stay down here to long..I'm not a water type.. I need oxygen at somepoint..Dratini's mind shouted out to Celeste, and she quickly answered. "Use Dragon Rage in it's face, and then come back up for air!" Dratini shot a burst of purple flames in Poliwags face and released it, Poliwag was stunned, and still lay at the bottom of the tank. Dratini broke through the surface of the water, and climbed atop one of the floaters. "Good job Dratini!" Celeste smiled at her Pokemon. It's still not giving up... Celeste glanced at the Poliwag, who indeed was now swimming back up. Asra smiled and commanded, "Body Slam!" Poliwag broke the surface and aimed its body at Dratini. "Back in the water!" Dratini slid out of the way in time for Poliwag to knock itself out on the floater.
Sean's voice rang out. "Poliwag is unable to continue! Dratini wins this round!" "Alright Dratini!" Celeste cried out as Dratini swam to her. She picked him up and hugged the wet Pokemon. "You are the greatest, you know that?!" She returned Dratini and picked Eevee's ball, tossing it out so that she landed on a floater. Asra had already returned her Poliwag, and now sent out a pink Pokemon. "...Oh... My God.." Celeste shuddered and looked away from the Pokemon. "It's...pink.."
"Alright Slowpoke, let's show them what we got," Asra said, smiling. Nonan was laughing insanely in the stands, Ariel trying fruitlessly to shush him up. "The Second round will begin.. NOW!" Sean cried out. "Slowpoke, confusion!" Slowpoke's gaze turned to Eevee's, and it held her gaze. Eevee soon cried out in pain. "Eevee!" Celeste said sharply, breaking through the pain. Eevee turned her gaze away from Slowpoke, and the Slowpoke slid into the water. "Shit.. Eevee, center floater!" Eevee leaped from floater to floater, until it stood in the middle of the center floater. "Now, close you're eyes!" Eevee did so. Same tactic as we would in missions? Of course. I hear it. It's swimming in slow circles beneath me, waiting for a command.. There! It's coming from.. my left! Eevee jumped out of the way just as Slowpoke appeared from her left, attempting to head butt Eevee, but missing and hitting the floater. "Good thing it doesn't feel pain until about a minute after," Asra stated. Celeste smiled, "but it's part Psychic type.. Eevee! Bite its tail, and do not let go!" Eevee bit down hard on Slowpokes tail. There was absolute silence for a full 2 minutes before Slowpoke wailed in pain, and began to run around the floater frantically, waving its tail about, Eevee clinging on happily. "Start a Shadow Ball, Eevee!" A dark ball began to form in Eevee's mouth, and the moment Eevee released Slowpoke's tail, the ball let loose and knocked Slowpoke into Asra. Slowpoke was down. "The winner is Eevee! The challenger from Viridian City has won the Cascadge Badge!"
Damn straight! Can't beat a Pokemon from the Ex-Aq-- Shut it Eevee. Don't remind me.. Sorry.. I forgot.. Eevee turned to face Celeste, a begging look in her eyes. Celeste smiled and opened her arms, and Eevee ran into them, happily. Asra and Celeste got down from where they were and went back to the others. Asra and Ariel began to talk, Ariel asking for Asra's number so they can text and keep in touch, and Sean and Nonan talking of the battle. Celeste however, snuck off to the aquarium room from earlier, for some one on one talking with Eevee about the past.

Celeste, Ariel and Nonan all stood outside the hotel, Sean facing them, attempting to ask them a question. "Well..you see.. uh.. I was wondering..." "Spit it out already, Sean," Celeste said, her arms crossed. Ariel glared at her before look at Sean kindly, "Go on." "Could I travel with you guys?" Sean finally managed to say, chuckling nervously. Nonan's response was immediate. "No shit, Sherlock! It'd be great to have another guy!" Nonan then began walking toward the southern exit of Cerulean City. "We'd be glad to have you Sean, let's go!" Ariel followed Nonan, and Sean followed them. Celeste followed a few feet behind, Eevee walking beside her. So... you planning to keep a close eye on Sean? Of course.. It wouldn't be lieutenant like if I didn't. You technically aren't Lut. True.. but it stays with me.. Think he really is...you know... him? Celeste didn't reply immediately. She thought about it. All signs pointed to the identity of who Sean could really be. Celeste finally replied aloud, "I don't know Eevee. But if Sean is the supposedly dead Cypher Red, then Team Rocket has some serious explaining to do."
*If that scene made no sense to you, think about the 3rd Pokemon Movie, Spell of the Unknown, how Ash, Misty and Brock got into Molly's house. That exact same thing is what happened here*
