Chapter 5
Through Adrian's Eyes
Adrian glanced at the map on his iPhone and then glanced back down below to be sure of where they were heading. His Flygon looked back at him from where he sat on its back, tilting its head slightly. Adrian gave his Pokemon a reassuring smile. "No worries, we're on the right track. Nearly at Vermilion City. When you see the Base Team Magma has established there, go ahead and land straight away." Flygon grunted in response and turned forward once more focusing on the trail. Adrian switched to texting and sent a quick message, and he opened his mouth again to speak to his Pokemon. "Think that girl's okay?" Flygon murmured softly in response. "I mean.. we do need her to get Arceus under control when we bring it forth to destroy the world, figuratively speaking." Flygon growled lowly at the mention of that and glared up at her trainer. Adrian sighed and pat her head lightly. "I know how you feel about that, don't be mad. You know I only do it to find Rayne."
Flygon growled and looked away from her trainer, making a sudden downward turn, causing Adrian to nearly lose his seat. Adrian patted Flygon's side slightly harder than before, just to show that he understood what she was trying to say. "That girl did remind me of Rayne though.." Flygon rolled her eyes but did nothing more and continued the steady decline toward the Magma Base that lay on an island not too far from Vermilion Cape. They landed atop one of the buildings, normally where helicopters would land, and a few people dressed in Red began making their way forward, Pokeballs at hand. Adrian reached for his own Pokeball, although he knew that Flygon was a lot more than enough for these Magma Grunts. "Stand down, troops! Have you no respect for your former leader?" his voice had gone from gentle and playful to stern, cold and hard. The grunts stopped moving and saluted him. Clapping came from a man dressed differently than the grunts, but still had that Magma insignia on his clothing. "Well, well, well, look what we have here, if it isn't my twin brother." Adrian rolled his eyes and hopped down, from his Flygon, returning her to the ball with a silent murmur of thanks to his Dragon for the ride. "Hello Damon," Adrian said walking toward his brother. Damon nodded in greeting and turned, walking through the door a little ways behind him, Adrian following, his eyes boring holes into the back of his brother's head. "Why is it that when I commanded Magma the Grunts knew better than to come rushing at an unknown trainer, and with you they act as if they're the best around?" "Because I, unlike you, have great Grunts with great Pokemon running around." "You act bad, but you've got nothing on how I ran the place." Damon rolled his eyes and continued walking, taking a flight of stairs down that turned onto a long hallway. "Is it my fault I see things and do things differently then you? I like following the path Father set up for us, not the one you created which nearly destroyed Magma from the inside out." "My methods of teaching were much more effective then any of the previous Magma leaders!" Adrian growled, his eyes narrowing. Damon turned on his brother and scoffed, "Oh really? Then why'd you find the need to leave the position if you were so sure of yourself?" Adrian didn't reply, but that didn't stop Damon from keeping his mouth shut. "Maybe if you hadn't been so busy having sex with the enemy's Lut, you'd have been a better fucking leader." Adrian aimed a punch at Damon's face before he knew it, but another hand -- not belonging to either him or Damon -- appeared and grabbed hold of Adrian's wrist before he could make contact with Damon's jaw. "Heya Adrian, as much as I've missed you leading, he is our new leader, and me being Commander of Magma.. I kinda gotta watch his back," Jr laughed nervously and released Adrian's hand. Adrian and Damon did not look away from each other, and Adrian broke the silence. "Don't ever mention that subject again. Do you understand me?" Adrian's eyes sparked dangerously, but Damon just laughed and shook his head, turning away, "I always knew how to push your buttons, brother." Adrian glared at Damon's back as he walked away, and Jr glanced apologetically to Adrian before following his leader. A sigh was heard from a doorway to Adrian's left and he turned to see the Magma Lut standing there, here head shaking slowly. "You boys and your stupid boy penis'.. why can't you two ever get along?" Adrian smiled slightly and shrugged at Justine. "I don't know.. Why can't you and your twin ever be kind to each other?" Justine rolled her eyes. "Jr's annoying! How am I supposed to be nice when he can't even take a hit or two?!" Adrian chuckled and Justine strode past him, calling over her shoulder to him. "We have a meeting in a few minutes. Go round up the others will you?" Adrian stared after her in amazement. "Seriously?! I'm like the strongest guy here and I'm sent to do the errands?!" Justine ignored him and was soon gone.
Grumbling, Adrian began to walk the familiar hallways of his old base, and began to take a very quick trip down memory lane. He turned into a doorway and found himself in the Leader Gallery, where all the pictures of the past Magma Leaders hung. They were all related to him, seeing as the Org was passed from generation to generation. Adrian paused at the portrait of his father and sighed, "Why did I have to be the firstborn..?" "Because you were meant to lead." Adrian turned and found Brendan standing behind him. "Ah.. so you've joined us?" Adrian and Brendan grasped each other's arms in an old Hunter/Magma greeting, as Brendan replied, "I did. The Pokemon League Champion got to me, and since it seems like a solid idea. However, I'm still unsure if this is the route I wish my Hunters to take." "Well as the Hunter Leader, the capture of the Legendaries wouldn't go very well without you and your Hunters. I mean.. c'mon," Adrian cracked a smile. "We both know you're the best person to catch any Pokemon in the world." "But Legendaries? Even I have a limit." "Woah, Brendan? With a limit?! That's news to me." A new voice joined them, and Kyle strode into the room, an eyebrow raised. "The Hunter Leader never has limits." "And the Hunter Lut is made with nothing but limits," Brendan said, crossing his arms menacingly. Kyle smiled and shrugged, knowing fully well that Brendan wouldn't do a thing to him. "I have no limits when it comes to being me," he greeted Adrian the Hunter/Magma way and then inclined his head toward the doorway. "Meeting happening soon right? Shouldn't we head on over..?" "Being responsible? What a shock," Adrian commented as they moved toward the doorway regardless. Kyle rolled his eyes and turned away, "I have my moments.." He said nothing more and left the other two alone, following the path the Magma Trio went through not too long before. Brendan followed a bit before glancing back at Adrian. "Don't you need to go too?" Adrian shook his head, "I gotta find the Galactic Leaders first." "Knowing those two, they're already there. C'mon let's just go," Brendan didn't wait for an answer, because he knew that no one ever really disobeyed him. Adrian sighed and followed the Hunter Leader, wondering if he was doing the right thing in aligning with this side of the battle.
Brendan was right, and that's not something Adrian would ever admit outloud. The Galactic Leader and his Lut were seated already at the table, talking to each other in low voices. The Magma trio sat across from them, all speaking to each other as well. Kyle and Brendan took their places beside the Galactic pair, leaving an empty seat at the head of the table, another empty seat at the opposite end of the head, and four in between, two on either side. (Got confused? Ask for an image from me and I'll paint it out for ya.) Adrian took his usual seat at the end of the table, with two empty spots on either side of him. He leaned his chair back on two legs and stared up at the ceiling, contemplating on what to do next, when his mind went back to the group he left behind in the Psychic's gym... There was that boy..with the headphones... Nono? No... not Nono.. Nanon...? No.. Nonan..? Yes! Nonan.. but he had no special powers. Nothing out of the ordinary from what I could see. That Growlithe just didn't want to be chased by Machamp. There was that girl with the glasses.. Oreo? No.. Ariel! That was it.. she seemed to quiet to me to be anything too special. And amazingly smart, she definetely picked up that seed I planted about the Chosen 4 which will be used to my advantage later. That other boy though.. he seemed all too familiar, as if I had faced him before.. but from where? Where could he possibly be from.. that.. Sheen? No.. Sean. That's what it was.. It was like I not only knew him, but he opposed me. I can't help but feel that he and I didn't get along.. and he could be a problem later. And finally that girl who battled Scott. She didn't speak throughout the entire battle, so she's either psychic... or she's probably what we've been looking for.. She could be the second member to the 4 Chosens. But dare I tell these people? Or do I use her to find Rayne..? Decisions, decisions...
Adrian's metal rant came to an end as the final person entered the room. All conversations died down instantly, and all eyes -- except Adrian's eyes -- were on this one man. He seated himself at the head of the table, folded his hands together and looked around quietly. It was as though this man was thinking on where to begin. He finally spoke. "The last time we met, it was just Damon, Midnite, and myself. It was when we recieved the news that Leaders of Team Rocket and Aqua were dead. Now we meet again to put phase two into action--" "Wait, uhm.. Champion, sir," Justine cut in smoothly, "Are you meaning to say the deaths of those two leaders were.. intentional? I was under the impression that they were accidental..." "Accidental? That's like saying you accidentally dropped a toaster in a bathtub," Kyle interuppted teasingly. Justine glared at him. The man at the head of the table shook his head. "It was accidental. I wanted them imprisoned or at least in a safe place until we can convince them to join us in our next phase." "And what is our next phase?" asked the Galactic Lut, Clint. The man smiled and leaned forward. "It's the exciting part. This phase is actually most complex. Motivating the Chosen 4 to go after the legendaries for our sake, while we go after them as well." "How do we do that?" Jr asked, his head in his hands zoning in and out every so often. "Well, for one, we go after the same ones they are at the same moments." "That's just wasting our time.." Brendan interjected. "I mean, why not have them go after whatever, and we go after the others?" "Because if we do that they won't have any real motive to go after them will they?" "I don't understand.."Justine muttered.
Frustrated, the man slammed his fist down on the table. "Listen! We have certain people go after certain legendaries and somehow let it slip that we're going after said legendaries. They feel compelled to stop us so they go after and try to capture it before we do, thus increasing our odds of capture instead of it being just us capturing it, increasing the legendaries odds of escape. And if we do as Brendan stated, it'll be the same, just separated." "But do we seriously need the Chosen to capture the Legendaries?" Midnite asked quietly. "Honestly? Yes and no. It's said that each Chosen is connected to certain Legendary Pokemon that will willingly go with them and obey their commands. We need them there to make the job easier, but on our own we could catch the legendaries, but it'd be a bit harder. Now for the final phase, which is Arceus' revival, we do need them. They're the only ones said to be able to control Arceus and do our bidding." "And how the hell will we get them to follow us anyway?" Adrian said, his eyes on the man across from him. "They're obviously not going to do it out of their own free will seeing as they'll see changing the world as a bad thing. Trust me I've met them." Oops, slip up number one... Adrian mentally smacked himself over the head for that one. All was quiet and they stared at him for a long while, some with disbelief, others with awed stares; two of them however, stared as if they really didn't want to be there. "You met them?! You met the three?!" The man at the head of the table stood excitedly. "Who are they?! Names! Locations! Tell all, Adrian!" Adrian rolled his eyes and looked away, out the window to the scenery on the other side of the glass. "It's just a hunch I may have found one. I wasn't going to mention it because I didn't want to get your hopes up." Lies.. he thought to himself, but kept going. "I want to investigate them furthur if that's alright, but on my own. You can find the other two, I have my eye on one only. But that one doesn't seem to be swayable, just saying." Adrian said nothing more, and met the gaze of the man before him. His rival: Felix Wind.
Felix nodded and sat back down, shutting his eyes briefly. "Luckily we already have one Chosen on our side. One's under Adrian's watch, which is way better than I could've ever hoped for, and the other two we'll just have to find and convince on our own time. Now.. there's one last issue we need to discuss. And this one's pretty damn important, so listen carefully. We've cut off the heads of Rocket and Aqua. But they can still be revived. Rocket had a pretty damned powerful Lut, so I don't doubt their revival. Aqua however, didn't. At the time of Tyrantor's death, their Lut wasn't very good at his position, considering how new it was. They're barely keeping it together, and they need someone with experience. They will more than likely look to Rocket for help and try to contact them, but with us in the way, we can take over Aqua, and then destroy Rocket. The Rangers won't be a problem if they never hear of this issue. Now let me update everyone on Aqua's leadership." Felix turned to Justine and Jr at this time, with a look of understanding. "I know you don't know much about their past, but listen well now, that way you can learn more later. Aqua was a strong rival of Magma, everyone in the world knows that. Aqua's leader was Tyrantor, and at the time, they had a Lut named Rayne." The looks on the other's faces changed rapidly. Clint and Midnite looked a bit sick, Damon's face hardened with irritation, and he shot a glare at Adrian, who's face was emotionless, the perfect Magma Leader mask: Keep your opponets guessing. Kyle looked bored, and Brendan looked attentive, trying to soak in as much information as possible to create strategys against their enemy. Jr and Justine looked eager. "Rayne was the future of Aqua. An informant told me that she rose quickly from the bottom to the top. She appearantly went on a top secret mission a few weeks before the deaths of Aqua and Rocket leaders, and she disappeared, never to return. We don't know if she's alive, and we don't know if she's dead. We just know that Aqua cannot locate her either, and believe me they tried. But she's gone as far as we're concerned. That left Tyrantor with a new Lut who was learning the ropes when we accidentally --" Felix shot a glare at Damon " -- killed him and Cypher Red." Jr nodded and Justine spoke, "So she's still a potential threat." Felix nodded and then turned to the entire group.
"We start tomorrow on locating the Legendaries. It'll more than likely call out the Chosens, regardless if we know them or not. Brendan, I'm counting on you to lead these missions on collecting the Legendaries. I want to catch most, if not all, of them. That way the Chosens have motivation to chase us all the way to Arceus. Try going in region order, starting with Kanto, and ending with Sinnoh. Damon, you and your team will focus on finding those two Chosen that we have yet to locate, and supply back up for Brendan. Midnite and Clint, you're job will be housing the legends we capture, and reading up on the prophecies, since you're people are honestly smarter at that than anyone elses'. Adrian.." Felix's eye's rested on Adrian, and Adrian stared back. He felt the tension in the room build, and Felix smiled a bit too calmly at him. "Stay on that Chosen one, and make him or her either join you, or become your rival. Make them hate you with a passion, or love you. Make them want to be on your ass at all times. And get the other 5 of your friends to join in with this. I cannot sway them, but you have more power in this room than all of us combined, so I know you can. Don't forget who you align with." Adrian nodded and Felix ended the meeting. Adrian was the first to get to the door, when Felix spoke once more "Oh, and Adrian.." Adrian paused, and turned slowly to look at Felix. Felix's face was intimidatingly calm, and his voice was very even when he said the following words:
