Chapter 6
Decisons, Decisions...
LET ME GO! LET ME GO! I'M MEANT FOR THE CHOSENS! LET ME GO! SAVE ME! CHOSEN! I'M SORRY! There was a burst of flames and Celeste covered her face, shielding her face from the flames that licked at her arms. Celeste screamed and she heard a murmur of voices over her head, one voice clearer than the others. "Let's go! Leave the girl! We got what we wanted!" The burn on her arm grew intense, and she could hear the cries of the Pokemon as it was taken away from Celeste's side. She managed to open an eye and see the great bird with blurred vision. "I'll get you back! I promise I'll save you from them!" The bird's eyes shut, and it seemed as though a tear came out, but it sizzled into nothing before it could truly be formed. The earth under Celeste rumbled and shook, and she had to cover her face again as little pebbles and rocks came tumbling down around and on her..
The image that was burned in Celeste's mind faded as the voices around her became clearer. She wanted to open her eyes, but fought against that temptation, and decided to lay perfectly still as she recognized the voices above her head. "I still think it was too damn early to bring them here! Regardless if the Gym Leader had a vision." "I disagree, Nano. It was perfect timing. Besides, if we didn't do it now, when would it have happened? They need to know right away." "Aqua has not returned our messages to confirm that." "Aqua is busy searching for Rayne, which is a lost cause. We know she's gone and if she's intent on staying hidden, she will stay hidden. She's very good at that kind of thing. Besides, you said it yourself, she may even be dead." Silence met that statement, and the voice that wasn't Nano's spoke softly and apologetically once more, "I shouldn't have gone there. I forgot how bad it was for you and her to be sent on that mission." Nano responded coolly, "A mission that I went on voluntarily to save your ass, Sean. And now you may have ruined it by calling us to pick up her, and her friends, who were none too happy to be separated and placed into cells like prisoners." Sean grumbled something Celeste couldn't comprehend and then spoke up, "Let's go check on the other two. Contact Josh to see how Scott's doing and if he's awake yet. I want to know what he saw. Then you check on Nonan, and I'll check Ariel. I highly doubt they haven't already tried getting out of their cell--" Sean's voice was cut off by the swoosh of a sliding door opening, and a few seconds later, it swooshed again as it shut.
Celeste lay absolutely still, and silently on what she seemed believe was a bed. She listened carefully and could hear nothing. Moving with absolute slowness, she did what she always did when she found herself in a predicament where she could be in way over her head, she opened her eyes a fraction of an inch, and met a blinding light. Her eyes fluttered shut quickly, and she lay still a few moments, and then shifted her position in a way that made it seem she did it in her sleep. She paused, and heard no one coming, and opened her eyes a fraction again. She was facing a blank wall, and to the bottom part of it -- her far right -- there was a door. A sliding glass door. She shut her eyes completely once more, then rolled over to the other side, and opened her eyes again. No windows. So the only visible place was the glass door. Perfect. She rolled completely off and landed silently on her hands and feet. She walked quickly to the corner that was unviewable from the glass door. Quickly scanning the four corners of the room for cameras, she checked to see if her bag was in the room. Nothing. Her Pokeballs were nowhere in sight either. So much for using Eevee and Dratini for an escape. She shut her eyes and tried to contact them mentally. No go. Too far.
Gritting her teeth, she waited impatiently by the door. Someone had to notice her disappearance soon. What felt like hours went by, and soon a commotion started outside, and footsteps were heard running down the hall, and then two pairs came back. She could hear a muffled voice tell someone that she was nowhere to be seen, and then a pair of foot steps walked away, while the sliding door opened. It was Nano. Perfect. He took a few steps in before he turned to look at the corner where she was. Celeste gave him no time to react. She kicked at his legs and he fell hard on his back, and she dashed out the door, narrowly avoiding his hand that tried to grab her ankle. Her first goal was to find her Pokemon, then get the others, and get out. Eevee?! Dratini?! She was mentally yelling for her Pokemon to reply. She needed them to complete this mission safely. Mission? Ooh, where we heading boss? Eevee! Where are you? Eevee's voice was getting louder and clearer as they spoke, and Celeste turned the corner to see her dear Pokemon in a glass room as well. "Damn, they seriously underestimate me..." she murmured, and then kicked the door with her heel, causing the glass to shatter. Eevee ran up to where their Pokeballs lay on a stool, picked them up with her mouth and then ran to Celeste, handing them to her. Celeste returned her Dratini, with a small murmur of words, before turning to Eevee. "Sniff out Ariel, Nonan could probably handle himse--" "ATTENTION ALL ROCKET MEMBERS! A FIRE HAS BEEN STARTED IN CELL C4! ALL WATER UNITS REPORT TO CELL C4 IMMEDIATELY. ARSONIST IS STILL AT LARGE WITH A GROWLITHE AND SQUIRTLE! BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR THEM." "Fucking Nonan.." Celeste muttered and then ran into a nearby closet.
She felt around the walls, and soon found a light switch. Smiling, she flipped it on and then found she was in the closet of Rocket uniforms. "Seriously? Couldn't Sean have found a better hiding place for this..." Sean can be yelled at for this later. Just change fast so we can go find the others. "I'm hurrying, I'm hurrying.." Celeste grumbled and straightened her new Rocket cap, and walked out calmly. She turned to see Eevee dragging a Rocket bandanna, and Celeste kneeled down and tied it around her Pokemon's neck. "Happy?" Eevee smiled and began sniffing for Ariel. Celeste followed her Pokemon, and her mind kept trying to figure escape routes from the building, after locating the two of her friends. Her train of thought was cut off by an explosion, and insane laughter. "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! LET'S GO GROWLITHE!" "Fucking Nonan.." Celeste said and darted behind a corner. "Eevee, get ready to tackle Growlithe into that nearby room, okay?" Eevee nodded, and Nonan and his Growlithe soon rushed passed them, not seeing them out of haste. Celeste and Eevee stalked them quietly and at Celeste's signal, both she and Eevee shoved them into a nearby room, and Celeste shut the door hastily behind them. "Don't move before I kick you in the balls," Celeste said, flipping on a light. Nonan blinked from the sudden light and smiled. "Woah, looks like you've joined the other side. What's with the outfit?" Celeste rolled her eyes and smacked Nonan's shoulder. "What the hell were you thinking making explosions and causing fires?!" "I was thinking, we need decoys, distractions, and I got a Pyro partner! You knew this would happen! And it's not like Squirtle would let me get badly burned." Celeste bit her lower lip and pressed her ear against the door. "Okay here's the deal.. we're gonna find Ariel and get the hell out of he--" There was a crash and then a command, "Quilava don't let her Bulbasaur get the best of you!" Nonan and Celeste scrambled out the door, both commanding their Pokemon simultaneously. "Growlithe shove his Pokemon outta the way!" "Eevee, bump Bulbasaur out of harm's way!" Both Pokemon acted accordingly, and both were attacked in return. Growlithe was hit by a Psyduck, owned by Nano, while Eevee was attacked by a Togetic. Bulbasaur lashed out at the Quilava as Eevee and Growlithe went back and flanked the grass type. The hall was crowded and silent. Celeste glared at her opponent, Josh, while Nonan yelled at the duck that beat him last time -- owned by Nano.
Sean tore his eyes away from Ariel -- his opponent -- and glanced pleadingly at Celeste. "C'mon, we don't need to fight, just let us expla--" "Eevee tackle him now!" Eevee did so, but Quilava got in the way and blocked her from hitting his trainer. "I will NOT listen to you. You're supposed to be dead!" Celeste nodded at Eevee once more and Eevee made it past Quilava, only to be stopped by Togetic. Eevee jumped off of the flying Pokemon and ran back to her trainer, standing protectively infront of her. "Listen, I'll return my Pokemon if I have to, but you need to listen to u--" "I DON'T WANT TO LISTEN! DRATINI, TWISTER!" She shouted the command as she sent out her little dragon, and it created a twister rapidly. The three Rockets returned their Pokemon and got out of the way quickly, while Celeste returned her Eevee and signaled for the others to do the same with their own Pokemon. "Dratini return!" after her dragon was away, the three ran. They made it as far as the end of the hall, before they were stopped, as if they lost control of their bodies. It was Nano's Psyduck, stopping them with Confusion. Sean sighed and shook his head before issuing the command. "Knock them out." Lights went out for Celeste, Ariel and Nonan.
A few hours later...
Celeste grumbled as she opened her eyes. She was tied to a chair, and Nonan and Ariel were tied into chairs on either side of her. They seemed to be in the Rocket's meeting room, and Celeste began to fidget with the seat, trying to undo the ropes, but that failed. Sighing, she looked around, and noted that the room was dimly lit, and the table was the touch kind, like an iTouch but table sized, and a lot better. The doors slid open, and a few Rockets came in, Sean, Nano and Josh being apart of that group. Sean sat at the head of the table, close to the tied trio. He looked apologetically at Celeste as Ariel and Nonan woke up. "We really need you to listen.." Celeste said nothing, but Ariel looked over at Celeste and said semi-reasonably, "We might as well. They have us tied to chairs for God's sake. What's the harm in listening?" "For once, I think listening is right," Nonan interjected, "I mean... I'll zone out anyway, they left my headphones plugged in but I can't reach my iTouch.." He looked at one of the Rocket Grunts, "Help a brother out and place it in my hand please? Or at least put it on Shuffle.." The Grunt glanced at Sean, and then did as Nonan asked.
Celeste looked at Sean, and nodded once. Sean gulped and began. "Yeah..I'm supposed to be dead. Yeah I know it's all a lie. Nano here..well he to--" "Took your place in a mission, we all know that part the writer wrote that in earlier... at least she thinks she does.. give her about 10 seconds to scroll up and check...Ooh turns out she was wrong and is now thinking of cutting this needless two lines out, but instead, she'll keep it in as comic relief," Celeste glared at her real self. "The writer needs to drink less Pepsi." Sean rolled his eyes, "ANYWHO... I'm supposed to be dead, and well quite frankly, so is the Aqua leader, Tyrantor--" Nano and Josh both glanced alarmingly at their Leader, but said nothing. "However.. that's not exactly quite what happened... Tyrantor and I both knew that Magma and Galatic wanted to talk to us and get us in on their plan, so we had our Luts dress up as us, and go and act as if they were us. You see, we never ever let anyone besides our Luts and commanders see what we really looked like, so in a sense, we were truly dead, Nano and the Aqua Lut at that time -- Rayne -- went in our place and faced the Magma and Galactic Leaders. Magma's Leader, Damon, got a little...crazy, and burned the place to the ground. Nano escaped.. but Rayne stayed behind..." Sean stopped and Nano picked up the story. Ariel and even Nonan actually looked interested, Celeste however looked zoned out. "I remember fighting with Rayne, telling her she couldn't stay that she needed to go as well. But she said she knew someone else was in the building with them and wanted to save them.. She pushed me out the window and onto my Skarmory, and I ... well no one has seen her since." "It's assumed that she's dead," Sean stated and sighed. "So.. we're good. We know that when Giovanni ran the place it was all bad, but not anymore. I changed that. Aqua's changed too since Tyrantor took over. THey were mostly just fighting Magma and trying to stop the bad orgs from doing what they want to do." "And what is it that they want to do?" Ariel asked, seeing as Celeste wasn't responding to anything.
Sean glanced at Josh and Nano, and Josh took over at this point. "Ever hear of the Chosen Ones?" Celeste burst out laughing and she looked a little bit crazy when she set her eyes on Josh. "Lemme guess..." Celeste took a deep breath and recited what Adrian had told them when they met him (yes I'm too lazy to copy and paste), when she finished, Josh shook his head slightly. "Yes and no. It's true that they can tame a Legendary Pokemon, but only one." Josh tapped at the touch screen table, and an image of a giant Pokemon appeared. "That's Arceus. The only Pokemon they can truly control together, thanks to their powers. The Legendaries, anyone can capture, but the capture rate increases with the Chosen Four... Magma and Galactic want Arceus.. to 'create a new world' they say.. but we can't trust what they want to do. In my eyes, the world is fine as is... and we don't even know who's the real mastermind behind all this.. We just need to tighten our forces -- hence Aqua and Rocket's alliance -- and fight against them. We're trying to contact the Rangers and get them on our side as well.. we've lost the Hunters so that's a downer.. we also need to find the Chosen Four before they do--" "How do we know you won't do what Galactic and Magma want as well?" Ariel interrupted, and the answer came from someone no one expected to answer. "They won't because.. it's not their way. Aqua wants to expand the seas, and Rocket just want to steal Pokemon..until Cypher Red and Tyrantor took over.. now they just want to better the world," Celeste's voice was monotone as she explained that and her eyes were eerily blank as she looked at Sean. "You're a Chosen One, aren't you?" Sean smiled, "I am.. You are too. I can sense it in you." Celeste laughed lightly, "So the legends are true..we can sense it in each other.." she wandered off again, back in her own little world.
Nonan blinked, "Damn..I want what she's smoking.." Ariel rolled her eyes and spoke again. "Why us?" Sean nodded his head at Celeste. "It's her we want. But there's no way she's going to leave you two.. so we need all three of you. Besides.. you seem really brilliant, and we need that. Sure we've got muscle.. but they've got brains as well as muscle." Ariel nodded and sighed, "So..what is it exactly you'll need us for then.. besides the brain and her being Chosen and Nonan being.." Nonan suddenly broke out singing to Baby sung by a better artist (the name escapes me at the moment). Sean grinned, "Nonan's entertainment." "We'll need you guys to help capture the legendaries," Josh added seriously, "and..well.. it'd be nice to have other people to talk to." Celeste bit her lower lip before speaking, "Will we be meeting Aqua?" "Yes. They're our partners, so Tyrantor -- aka Zak -- will be meeting us when we go after our first rescue: Moltres." "OH MY GOD! PYRO BIRDIE!" Nonan jumped up and his ropes fell away easily as he yelled. Everyone stared at him in shock, and Ariel spoke first, "When the hell did your ropes get untied?!" "Ninja please, I've got my ways." Nonan cackled and Celeste couldn't help but laugh, but that quickly died down and she looked at Ariel. "So...you want to help, right?" Ariel smiled apologetically, "I know we don't know them well.. but I don't want to ruin the world if we can stop it." Celeste turned to Nonan, "And you want to catch more pyros so of course you'll say yes.." "No shit! I also want a chance to capture a Pyro Legendary! That'd be epic shit!" Celeste turned her attention to Sean and the other three, her stare cold. "We'll go, on one condition." They all inclined their heads, showing that they were listening. "Never, EVER tie me up in a chair again or anywhere or I will hurt you with the glass tu--" "ANYWAY!" Nonan interrupted easily, "I have a condition of my own." He pointed a finger at Nano. "You. Me. Duck. Growlithe. Battle. Now." Nano smiled and took out a Pokeball. "Let's go." They walked out the door, while Sean and Josh got busy untying Celeste & Ariel.
"Strictly one on one, right?" Nano asked, tossing out his Psyduck. Nonan nodded as Growlithe appeared before him. "I'll get you this time." "Loser starts first." "NINJA PLEASE! Growlithe use flame wheel now!" Growlithe span in mid air, and seemed to be just that -- a wheel of fire aimed straight at Psyduck. "Dodge it." Psyduck avoided it, but barely. The flames licked at Psyduck's webbed feet and Psyduck landed on his rear because of it. "Confusion from there!" Psyduck's attack hit Growlithe spot on, and Growlithe was knocked off of his feet, landing at Nonan's feet. "Reversal!" "Water Pulse!" Water pulse was faster and hit Growlithe, but Nonan didn't hesitate this time and commanded Growlithe to use the same attack again, and this time it hit. Psyduck was thrown fast and far until it hit a wall. It fell to the floor, and started glowing white. "Growlithe keep away!" Nano smiled, "Thank you Nonan.." "For?" The glowing stopped, and Psyduck wasn't there anymore. It was a Golduck now. "For that," Nano grinned and grew serious, "Water Pulse!" THe attack was faster than before, and hit Growlithe as well as Nonan, knocking both of them out. The others got to see the evolution as well as the final blow, and Ariel couldn't help but sigh. "You do know he's going to kill us all later for this right?" "Nah.." Nano returned his new Golduck. "Just Celeste. She did tell him last time that he'd win this next battle.." "Woah wait, I said he'd beat Psyduck. Technically, he did. Psyduck just..lost and then evolved and Golduck kicked his ass." "Run, Number 1. Run," Ariel laughed. Sean glanced at Nano and Josh. "Might as well get them all on a jet and fly toward Mt. Ember.." Josh nodded and walked toward Nonan, Nano following. They lifted him, and headed out the door. Ariel picked up the knocked out Growlithe and followed after them, leaving Sean and Celeste alone.
Celeste began to follow, but Sean turned, blocking her path. "What aren't you telling us?" "Nothing." Her response was automatic, her tone practiced. Sean's eyes narrowed. "Why is that I get the feeling we're the ones who shouldn't trust you?" She smiled dangerously. "You don't want to go there, Sean. You ca-- Hey..wait.. What the hell did you guys do to Scott?!" Sean laughed, "Took you this long to remember him? Scott knew who I was. He's psychic remember? He's in the jet already." "How do you know..?" "He woke up and said he saw all this happen when he knocked out, and said he'd wait for us all in the jet." Celeste nodded and walked passed Sean, but he stopped her by grabbing her wrist. She glanced at it hand, and glared at him. "Let go. Now." Sean did as she asked, and they walked out together. "You know where Rayne is, don't you?" Celeste chuckled softly. "No. She just sounds interesting." Eevee's voice came from her Pokeball.
Liar.
