Chapter 2
Pewter Gym
"Damned bugs.." Nonan grumbled, returning his Squirtle for what seemed like the hundredth time. Celeste yawned and didn't bother returning Eevee this time. "Well what do you expect? It's Viridan Forest. We've got Caterpie, Metapod, Butterfree, Beedrill, Weedle, Kakuna, Pidgey, Pidgeotto... The sign at the entrance listed all the types of Pokemon we'd find here. Which in my opinion is rather dumb. It'd be better if it was just random and if the Pokemon appeared with this theme music, that sounds awesome the first 2 times, and then gets annoying..if they ever make a game based on Pokemon, they should do it that way." Ariel rolled her eyes and stilled at the sight of a bird type Pokemon. It was the second one they'd seen today, another Pidgey.
Nonan opened his mouth to tell his Squirtle to attack, but Celeste rushed over to cover his mouth. "Do not ruin this one for her. She wants to catch a Pidgey, remember?" Celeste decided to keep her hand over his mouth for good measure, knowing fully well that if she removed it, he'd do what he could to mess this up for Ariel. "Eevee, keep Squirtle in check." Eevee nodded and sat beside Squirtle, glaring at it, warning it with a growl not to move. Squirtle stuck a tongue out at Eevee but did not move.
"Ariel, it's all yours." Ariel nodded and glanced down at the Pokeball in her hand, before tossing it up in the air. In a flash of blinding white light, Bulbasaur appeared before her, and Ariel caught the falling Pokeball. "Alright Bulbasaur, let's get this one." Bulbasaur nodded and growled lowly at the Pidgey, getting into a perfect battle stance. The Pidgey glanced over at Bulbasaur, and cawed, before turning its entire body towards it, flapping its wings in an effort to intimidate its opponent. "Bulbasaur, start off with Tackle!" Bulbasaur charged at the Pidgey, who dodged by merely taking flight. "Bring it down with Vine Whip!" Two vines shot out of the bulb on Bulbasaur's back, and wrapped around Pidgey's body, bringing it down with a hard thud. The Pidgey was momentarily unmoving, before it started to Peck at the vines holding it down. "Razor Leaf!" Leaves shot out of the bulb now, and hit Pidgey dead on, who could no longer dodge. Pidgey cried out and struggled even more against its bindings, but it was no use. "Hold it tight!" Ariel threw a Pokeball at the Pidgey, and in a jet of red light, it disappeared into the ball. The ball fell to the ground, and Bulbasaur kept her vines out, ready to grab hold of the Pidgey again, in case it escaped the ball. However, the ball twitched three times before becoming still with a small click!
There was silence.
Then there was a scream.
"OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! I CAUGHT A POKEMON!!" Ariel was freaking out, and her Bulbasaur ended up having to wrap a vine around the ball and place it into Ariel's backpack for her trainer. Celeste laughed at the sight and then released Nonan, who immediately began to grumble. "So not fair! I wanted to at least comment on the battle." "Its your comments that would mess her up, Nonan." "Hey I tried to encourage her bu--" "It doesn't matter," Ariel interrupted, seeming to have finally calmed down, her Bulbasaur back in its Pokeball.
The trio continued onward, each of them receiving challenges from at least 2 trainers each, and each of them victorious, leveling up their Pokemon rapidly on wild Pokemon and Trainers alike. The Viridian Forest soon turned into Pewter City. "What say we stay in Pewter awhile? Enjoy the sights it has to offer? Maybe even a--" "GYM!" Nonan yelled and took off running toward the direction of a building that had a sign that read "PEWTER CITY'S POKEMON GYM". "Oooh boy.." Ariel and Celeste muttered together as they walked after Nonan.
They reached Nonan who was just staring at the door to the Gym. On the Gym door there was a note that read:
"GYM CLOSED DUE TO GYM LEADER BROCK BEING AWAY FLIRTING NEEDLESSLY WITH GIRLS.
BE BACK LATER!
AND LADIES, LEAVE YOUR NUMBER!
~Signed: Brock"
"That's the GAYEST piece of shit I've EVER read!" Nonan exclaimed, kicking at the glass door. It shattered. "SHIT RUN!" The three of them took off as the alarm system sounded. As they ran, Nonan leading, they passed by a museum. There were two guys running out of the museum, one holding scrolls, the other holding a sack that bulged oddly all over. The two groups collided, and the sack opened and spilled its contents. "Shit!" The guy who had held the sack quickly shoved most of contents back in the sack before running after his partner, leaving behind what look like an odd stone with something inside it. Celeste watched them run, and noted the stone, picking it up, and standing, dusting herself off, before turning and helping Ariel and Nonan up. "What the fuck was that?" Nonan asked, grumbling as he fixed his headphones and hat. "Bitches made my itouch freeze up! Goddammit.." He fiddled with his itouch as a couple of guards darted out of the museum, after the guys, no doubt. Ariel blinked and stared at what Celeste held. "Soo.. What's that?" "I have no idea.." murmured Celeste. "But you'll keep it anyway, aren't you?" Celeste didn't reply, but pocketed the stone. "It could be useful.. and possibly what I've been looking for.." she murmured aloud. "What's this you've been looking for?" The new voice sounded right behind them, and the girls whipped around, facing someone who definitely looked like a pedophile.
"Oh.. well.. Uhh.." Celeste shifted her head so that her hair somewhat covered her face. She also took the stone back out and handed it to the Pedo. "This.. know what it is?" The Pedo picked up the stone and smiled. "I sure do. It's an Old Amber. It's a prehistoric fossil of Aerodactyl, an extinct Pokemon. Speaking of rocks.. My name's Brock! I'm the Gym Leader of Pew--" "I CHALLENGE YOU!" Nonan interjected, pointing a finger at Brock. "I'm Nonan, and I want your badge." Brock blinked(?) a few times and nodded. "Meet me at the gym in an hour. I need to take this Fossil back in to the museum. Some chicks robbed it for elemental stones and fossils. Not sure what they wanted the fossils for.. It's useless without the machine to bring them back to life."
"Where's that machine?" Celeste asked innocently. "Cinnabar Island. The Island is protected by the Gym Leader there -- Blaine. But enough of that. You ladies get on to the gym with your kid brother here. I'll meet you there." Brock winked(?) and walked back into the museum, leaving Nonan seething. "I AM NOT A KID!" Ariel rolled her eyes and began to walk on toward where she believed the PokeCenter was. "We needa heal up our Pokemon if Nonan's gonna battle that Brock guy." Celeste and Nonan followed suit. Nonan scratched his head. "Was it just me, or did the guy look like a Pedophile?"
Pewter Gym
"Alright beautiful ladies! And.. gentleman. It's battling time. So which one of you two lovely ladies will be battling me?" Brock winked at Ariel and Celeste. Ariel rolled her eyes and Celeste flipped him off. "Just battle Nonan already will you?" Nonan took a Pokeball from his belt and tossed it in the air, catching it easily. "This'll be a piece of cake. What against what, oh fearless Gym Leader?" "One on One. Just to make it simple enough." Brock threw a Pokeball at the battle arena, and Geodude emerged from it.
"Pfft! Just one? Let's go two on two!" Nonan exclaimed, his own Pokeball hitting the ground as his Squirtle appeared before them, ready to battle Geodude.
"Nonan, you only have ONE Pokemon. Stop pushing it," Ariel called from the bleachers against the arena walls. Nonan flipped her off and smiled determinedly. "I got this one down!" "Now all we need is a Referee.." Brock muttered, putting a finger to his chin in a thoughtful stance. Celeste coughed and tilted her head to the side. "I'll ref it. I've done it before. I can do it now." "When did you have a chance to referee battles?" Nonan asked as Celeste stepped to the center edge of the arena. "Those 4 years I was gone? Yeah. I had things to do for my siblings.." She trailed off and cleared her throat, and began to announce the batlle. "This will be a one on one match. The match will continue until one or both Pokemon can no longer continue to battle, or until a trainer gives up. Death is no option. Referee may stop the battle if they see there is no point in continuing. The battle will commence..." Celeste trailed off, glanced at Nonan, and he nodded. Then she glanced at Brock, he too nodded. She then decided to make sure the Pokemon were ready as well.. Geodude... you ready? I do this for a living... Of course. Celeste turned her attention to Squirtle. Do your best buddy. Will do!
Celeste picked up where she left off. "NOW!"
"Start with Magnitude!" Brock commanded his Geodude, all signs of flirting completely gone, his mind on the battle. Geodude complied, its hands thrusting into the ground, causing the earth to shake at a magnitude of 5, making Squirtle topple over, landing on its shell. "What?! Hell no! Squirtle, withdraw and use watergun to shoot yourself at Geodude!" Squirtle stuck its hands, tail, legs and head inside its shell, and used watergun, propelling itself at a spiral to Geodude. "Catch the Squirtle!" Geodude's hands grasped Squirtle's shell just before it could hit Geodude. "Water Gun, right in the face!" A jet of water shot out and blasted Geodude, who let go of the shell. "Goddammit.. this battle can't end this fast.. It's only the first one!" Geouded was down, and would not get up. "Well it is going to end this fast, because water beats rock everytime. This may have been uneventful for you, but it was sure as hell funny for me!" Nonan cackled with laughter as did his Squirtle. Celeste rolled her eyes and called the match to an end. "Geodude is unable to battle. Squirtle and Nonan win the Boulder Badge!" Brock returned Geodude and walked over to Nonan as Ariel joined Celeste on the sidelines. "That was..fast," Ariel commented. "Yeah.. I forgot that Squirtle and Geodude don't make that much of an epic battle.." Celeste muttered. "But at least Nonan has his first badge," Ariel yawned "He's definitely kick my ass on the badge scale.." Celeste grumbled. "THAT'S RIGHT BITCHES! I GOT THE BOULDER BADGE!" Nonan exclaimed and lifted his Squirtle in delight. "We did it buddy! We're so gonna kick ass at the Pokemon League!" Celeste and Ariel smiled as they watched Nonan rub it all in Brock's face, who finally snapped. "ALRIGHT! I wasn't gonna mention it but now, you needa fix my damn gym door!" Nonan froze, and then took off, Squirtle at his heels.
Brock chuckled and turned toward the girls. "On your way out of town, stop by Pewter Museum. There's a surprise there for you, Celeste." Celeste nodded wearily and she and Ariel ran after Nonan, leaving Brock to call after them. "H-hey! Wait! What about your numbers?!" They left the gym and Nonan was nowhere to be found. Celeste sighed and began walking toward the museum, Ariel by her side. "I gotta admit..this chapter's kinda..boring.." Celeste yawned. "Well..could be worse." "How?" "....Could have had no chapter at all." "True that.." They arrived at the museum, and the curator was waiting for them just outside with the Old Amber in his hands. "Leader Brock insisted I give this to you, Celeste. He says you'll end up at Cinnabar Island, and that you should have this Pokemon resurrected, but he'd love to see it afterward once it is in your possesion, so please return to him with that Pokemon." Celeste hesitated, and then nodded wearily, taking the Old Amber and placing it in her bag. "Well we're off!" Ariel stated and took Celeste's arm, and lead her away toward Route 3. "Woah, wait, what about Nonan?" "What about Nonan?" Nonan asked, suddenly appearing behind them. "Where the fuck did you come from?!" Celeste exclaimed. "Don't trip!" Nonan said happily, "Where are we going now though?" "Mt. Moon. It's at the end of Route 3. We needa get through it in order to get to Cerulean City." "Is there a gym the--" "There is. And I call it." Celeste interrupted Nonan firmly. "Ninja please! I got this one in the ba--" She rounded on Nonan, her face inches away from his. "I swear to the writer of this story Nonan, if you even TRY to get the Gym Leader in Cerulean City to battle you, I will hurt you in one way or another. Be it in PERSON or HERE." Ariel tugged at both Nonan and Celeste. "C'mon! Let's get going so we can time skip to Mt. Moon and the next Gym battle!" "Alright, we're going!" Nonan exclaimed, and took off down Route 3, Celeste and Ariel chasing after him.
